You and your family’s well-being is the most important thing and as we all learn to navigate the ongoing challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic, I have been investigating ways I can continue to provide uninterrupted speech pathology services while also keeping everyone as safe as possible. Maintaining our children's routines and learning is a way that we can try to normalize what is a very confusing and stressful time for all of us.
As COVID-19 restrictions are easing, I am gradually increasing my face to face contact with clients. Although tele-therapy sessions are still encouraged where possible, I am seeing clients in my clinic again. At the moment this is limited to just a few appointments each day to ensure that I am able to maintain the required sanitisation processes recommended by both Speech Pathology Australia and the Queensland Health Department.
If appropriate for you, tele-health sessions will allow us to continue developing your and your family's communication goals. All you need is either a computer, iPad/tablet or phone that allows for the viewing and transmission of video and sound and an internet connection. I am currently using Zoom as the secure platform through which these services can be provided. All you need to do is click the link that I email you prior to our scheduled session. As always, I will endeavor to make our sessions interesting and engaging for you and your student. Home practice activities will also be provided.
REBATES
• NDIS: Clients being serviced by NDIS will continue to receive rebates for speech pathology services through teletherapy.
• Private Health Insurance: Please confirm with your health fund provider whether your cover will rebate speech pathology sessions done via teletherapy. If you are told yes, then ask them to document it on your file, in case it is ever queried later.
• Medicare rebates are now available under Chronic Disease Management Plans from your GP
Please be in touch if you have any questions.
